UK - ECI completes £115m sale of Racal

Harrow-based Racal develops headsets for use in the avionics industry and military applications, with the products being used by 120 military branches in more than 80 countries worldwide. Its primary product is the Raptor electronic noise reduction headset, launched in 2006, which is used by soldiers to improve communications and to protect their hearing from high ambient noise environments and from sound blasts from IEDs (roadside bombs).

ECI originally acquired the business in August 2005 in a secondary buyout from US investor JF Lehman. Over the course of the investment revenues have grown by around 110% and profits have risen by 150%, while the company's current record order book suggests continued growth next year and into the medium term.
