VC-focused law firm Jag Shaw Baker launches

London-based Jag Shaw Baker recently launched as a dedicated venture capital law firm, to focus on advising Europe- and US-based VC-backed companies and their investors.
The boutique law firm was founded by James Shaw, a former Brown Rudnick partner, and Tina Baker, formerly the chair of the European Emerging Technologies and Venture Capital Practice at Brown Rudnick. Shaw has also worked for SJ Berwin, while Baker sits on the advisory board of Seedcamp.
The firm was established as Jag Shaw Baker earlier this year when Baker joined the already-operating Jag Shaw.
Jag Shaw Baker already has a client base comprising angel investors, early- and late-stage institutional investors, family offices and venture capital-backed companies that operate in the life sciences, technology and cleantech sectors.
The firm recently advised on the Index Ventures-led $20m round for Egalet; the Valar Ventures-led $6m series-A funding round for TransferWise; and the £5m round for Fits.me by a consortium of new and existing investors.
Jag Shaw Baker will cover all areas of a venture capital-backed company's lifecycle, from seed funding through to exit routes, including IPOs.
Joining Baker and Shaw as partners are Richard Penfold, former European intellectual property head at Brown Rudnick, who will take up the position of head of Jag Shaw Baker's intellectual property practice; former Taylor Wessing special counsel Susanna Stanfield, who joins as a corporate partner; former DLA Piper employee Morven Greig, who joined as managing partner in June; and former Brown Rudnick employee Charles Crosthwaite, who will head the firm's M&A and IPO practices.
