Balderton hires Johal as head of IR

European VC firm Balderton Capital has appointed Harjinder Johal as head of investor relations.
Johal was previously head of IR and fundraising at Darwin Private Equity for eight years, helping raise the firm's maiden fund. Previous roles include investor relations at Permira between 2002-2005, where Johal worked on the firm's €5.1bn third European fund.
Balderton closed its fifth European vehicle on $305m in early 2014, to invest in series-A funding rounds for European technology companies. The vehicle launched in May 2013 and is domiciled in Guernsey.
The VC's previous fund, Balderton IV, reached a $430m first close in early 2009 and had an initial $500m target.
Earlier in January this year, Balderton added Rob Moffat and James Wise to its partner roster.
