ABN AMRO closes EUR 230m nordic buyout
ABN AMRO Capital has made its third acquisition in the Nordic region this year with a EUR 230m management buyout (MBO) of Loparex Group, the leading international producer of release liners for adhesive products, from Finnish listed pulp and paper group UPM-Kymmene.
Johan Bjurström, Nordic Head of ABN AMRO Capital, said:“Loparex has a strong position in a niche market, with a customer base spread over a diversified number of end users and regions. The company is well positioned to further consolidate this still fragmented industry and boost its operations in developing markets including India and China.”
ABN AMRO Capital will hold a controlling stake in the company following the acquisition, with the remainder owned by senior management. Sampo Bank provided senior debt for the transaction.
The deal is ABN AMRO Capital’s fourth in the Nordic region this year, following this month’s sale of Handicare, the Norwegian producer and distributor of technical aids for elderly and handicapped people, and the acquisitions of Swedish industrial equipment supplier FlexLink inApril as well as Danish retail, food and consumer products group Glud & Marstrand in March. Last year ABN AMRO Capital sold its majority stake in Swedish heat pump manufacturer IVT and acquired Finnish homeware designer littala.
