UK- Permira in exclusive talks for Montagu's Survitec
Permira is reportedly in exclusive talks to acquire survival equipment maker Survitec from Montagu Private Equity, having gained sole access to the company's books in the last week.
It is thought that Permira beat off bids from Warburg Pincus and Carlyle for the Dunmurry-based business. It has been reported that Montagu is looking to sell Survitec for a price of £300m. In August, it was understood that Montagu was looking to arrange a £130-150m line of credit for the business in preparation for its sale.
In 2004, Montagu acquired Survitec from Alchemy Partners in a £146m deal. Montagu assumed a majority stake in the business, with management holding the remainder. The debt facility was arranged by Barclays.
NM Rothschild is currently advising Montagu on the sale.
