GLOBAL - KKR to merge with KPE
Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR) and Amsterdam-listed vehicle KKR Private Equity Investors LP (KPE) has obtained the necessary approvals to go through with the merger reported on unquote" news last month.
KPE will remain listed on the Euronext Amsterdam, but after a certain period KKR and KPE will be able to seek a flotation of the combined business on the NYSE. The move was originally planned for July last year, but has since been postponed twice due to ongoing stock market volatility.
The transaction does not involve the payment of any cash consideration or involve an offering of any newly issued securities to the public. As of 30 June 2009 KPE expects that its preliminary net asset value will be approximately $3bn, while KKR is expecting to value assets under management at approximately $50.8bn.
