NL - AVR acquires Van Gansewinkel
AVR, the Rotterdam-based waste disposal company owned by KKR, CVC and Oranje Nassau Group, has agreed to acquire fellow waste disposal firm Van Gansewinkel from founder Leo van Gansewinkel (73%) and ING Corporate Investment (20%). The acquisition price is estimated to be between EUR 850-900m, according to analysts. The transaction, if approved, will create Holland's largest waste disposal firm to date, with a combined turnover of around EUR 1.1bn.
KKR, CVC and Oranje Nassau Group acquired AVR in early 2006 for a total value of EUR 1.4bn. The waste disposal sector is considered to be attractive due to stable revenues and the increasing importance that is attached to recycling services. The sector is currently experiencing a wave of consolidations.
Van Gansewinkel records a turnover of around EUR 530m and employs 4000 staff in the Netherlands and Belgium.
