UK - IBIS Capital launches £30m VCT

The IBIS Media fund is being structured as two £15m mirror venture capital trusts which will enable investments to be made of up to £2m per investee company. The VCTs will provide individual investors with an opportunity to participate in private equity type media investments, normally the preserve of large institutional funds. There are also significant tax benefits available to qualifying VCT investors in the current tax year, including a 40% upfront income tax rebate on individual investments up to £200,000, with any future dividend distributions and capital gains free of tax.

IBIS Media brings together a highly experienced team of media and investment professionals comprising: Sir Robin Miller, former chairman and CEO of EMAP Plc; Gary Hughes, CEO of CMP Information at UBM Plc and former group finance director of EMAP Plc and SMG Plc; Peter Williams, group finance director of Daily Mail & General Trust Plc; Peter English, a founder of Foresight Venture Partners; Simon Jamieson, private equity portfolio manager at Flemings Family & Partners; Lucy Macdonald, chief investment officer, global equities, RCM; David Forster, ex co-head of no 1 rated UK equity media research team at Salomon Smith Barney and previously Merrill Lynch; Charles McIntyre, ex Apax and now responsible for European media investment banking at Altium Capital; and David Stephens, who joins from WPP Group plc. The team is investing over £1m in IBIS Media VCT 1&2.
