Aberdeen to launch VCT C issue
The directors of Aberdeen Growth Opportunities VCT have announced that they are giving consideration to making a C share issue early in 2006. It is likely that the issue will be for up to ТЃ15m and that the total expense ratio of the company will be reduced as a result of the issue. Shareholders will be invited to approve the new issue at an EGM, and a further announcement will be made in due course.
Aberdeen Growth Opportunities VCT is a generalist VCT holding a mix of private equity and AIM stocks, and seeks to find the best investment opportunities in these areas of the market. It holds a broad spread of companies, creating a well-diversified portfolio across different sectors and industries. The fund’s lead managers are Bill Nixon and Judith MacKenzie
While all VCTs offer the same tax benefits, there can be significant differences in investment objectives and management styles. Investors should be careful not to invest in a VCT merely to receive the tax advantages at the expense of investing into an area where the outlook is less promising, according to Nixon.
