3i boosts Asian team
As part of its growth strategy for Asia, 3i has announced the appointments of Daizong Wang, Jae Kim, Bonnie Lo and Jason Yin in Hong Kong and the transfer of Dominic Orchard to the Asian team from London.
Jae Kim joins 3i as a vice president, covering the North Asian region and will be primarily responsible for the Korean market. Prior to joining 3i, he spent four years with Intel Capital in the U.S., Korea and Japan, where he was responsible for all financial aspects of Intel Capital’s investment operations. He also spent six years in investment banking and private equity at Wasserstein Perella, TD Securities and First Dominion Capital in New York. He has worked on numerous high yield offerings, M&A transactions, leveraged recapitalizations and leveraged buyout transactions while working in the US. Seoul-born Jae holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dominic Orchard moves from 3i in London to take up his new role as a director for business development in Asia. He joined 3i in 2002, where he focused on deal origination within the buyout team in London. Before joining 3i, Dominic worked in the technology industry for a VC-backed systems integration consultancy in sports and leisure. He has a Master’s degree in Management Studies and Technology from the University of London and a Bachelor Degree from the University of Southampton.
Bonnie Lo joins 3i as an associate for the North Asian region. Prior to joining 3i, Bonnie was with the Global Principal Investments group of Merrill Lynch, where she was primarily responsible for underwriting distressed corporate assets across the Asia Pacific region. She also spent three years in Merrill Lynch’s investment banking division, where she participated in advisory and capital markets transactions for companies in the Greater China region. She graduated magna cum laude with Bachelor of Arts in Economics and East Asian Studies from Brown University.
Jason Yin joins 3i as an associate for the North Asian region. Prior to joining 3i, he spent two years with Riverlake Partners, a U.S.-based private equity group, focusing on the firm’s investment initiatives in Asia. He also spent three years with Fidelity Investments Institutional Brokerage Group in Boston and previously worked as an electrical engineer in the telecom industry. Jason holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.
