GERMANY - Gebauer launches Ares Capital in Frankfurt

Gebauer resigned earlier this year as head of leveraged finance for Germany & CEE at investment bank Dresdner Kleinwort. He left together with a main part of his team, including vice-presidents Jennifer Kröhl and Paul Kim and associate Aileen Gormley. Kröhl and Gormley have also joined Ares Capital as vice-presidents.

Ares Capital specialises in providing financing for small- and mid-cap leveraged buyouts, corporate acquisitions and re-financings, while it also considers selective growth capital transactions. The fund, which has more than EUR 1bn of committed capital available, seeks to arrange, underwrite and hold investments in all layers of the capital structure from senior debt to minority equity. In addition, it can opportunistically purchase debt on the secondary market.

Since the beginning of 2008, the fund has completed 14 transactions throughout Europe.
