IIGCC launches guide for private equity community
The Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) today launched a guide on climate change aimed at private equity investors.
The guide addresses limited and general partners and seeks to raise awareness on the risks and opportunities posed both by climate change and related policy developments. It also offers guidance on how these factors might be measured by LPs and GPs during their investment selection process.
The guide is divided in two parts; the first part focuses on what questions LPs should raise with their existing or potential GPs while the second addresses the question from the GP/portfolio company angle.
In view of new climate change regulation coming into effect, such as the UK's mandatory CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (formerly the Carbon Reduction Commitment) due to start in April this year, both the European Private Equity and Venture Capital (EVCA) and its British counterpart BVCA welcome this initiative.
IIGCC is a forum of over 50 European investors representing assets of around €4tr.
