UK - More bad news for Countrywide deal
Sources report that UK hedge fund Boussard & Gavaudan has amassed a 5% stake in Countrywide and intends to oppose 3i's recommended 490p per share offer.
This follows last week's news that Artisan Partners, a group which holds a 7% stake in Countrywide, will also vote against the £940m delisting of the estate agency chain. Shareholders will be given the opportunity to vote on the matter on 15 January.
