UK- Candover slips as worries surface over Wood Mackenzie sale
The share price of private equity group Candover fell by more than 5 pence amid worries that the ТЃ550m sale of its energy consultancy firm Wood Mackenzie to buyout house Charterhouse would fall through.
The deal was due to be completed after the market closed on Monday, but no announcement has yet been made. It is reported, however, that Charterhouse has arranged for an extra 24 hours in which to complete the transaction.
If the deal fails to materialise, other private equity firms involved in the earlier stages of bidding could be brought back into the sale.
Beleaguered Candover has been considering a series of options to raise capital including an outright sale, a partial stake sale, or an equity fundraising.
