German Equity Partners BV sells Spectro to Ametek

The Spectro group of companies is one of the world market leaders engaged in manufacturing and services for a broad range of atomic spectroscopic instrumentation usedto analyze the elemental composition of solids and liquids. German Equity Partners BV acquired Spectro in 1997 together with existing and new management (MBO/MBI).

Following three add-on acquisitions Spectro was able to further strengthen its market position. In its last fiscal year Spectro reported annual sales of approximately EUR 80m. Including the acquisition of AG Kühnle, Kopp & Kausch and the steakhouse-chain Maredothe sale of Spectro represents the third transaction in 2005 for ECM in its capacity as adviserto the private equity funds German Equity Partners BV and German Equity Partners II LP.
