CZECH REPUBLIC - AnaCap to acquire Banco Popolare Ceská Republika
Specialist financial services investor AnaCap Financial Partners is in advanced due diligence to acquire Banco Popolare Ceská Republika, the Czech subsidiary of Italy's Banco Popolare.
The subsidiary is a fully licensed Czech bank with a seven branch network serving corporate and retail customers.
Given its low penetration of consumer credit, the Czech Republic offers rapid but sustainable growth conditions for the financial services sector within the EU. Overall the country has a strong financial position among emerging economies in the EU.
Following the completion of the acquisition AnaCap will seek to broaden the product mix, deepen management capabilities, and optimise the management of assets and liabilities at the bank.
AnaCap completed fundraising a new EUR 575m vehicle this summer, attracting commitments from investors such as Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners (Morgan Stanley AIP) and Allianz. The fund has completed several other transactions this year, most recently investing £70m in the acquisition of Cattles Invoice Finance from Cattles plc.
