UK - MPs comment on capital gains tax at BVCA spinout conference
Charles Hendry MP, the Conservative Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform today labelled the approach taken by the government to capital gains tax as "damaging to the country's entrepreneurial spirit." Dr Vince Clarke MP, the Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor also expressed disappointment at the government's handling of the change in capital gains tax. While he believes Alistair Darling has made a move in the right direction, he said the changes "emerged out of the blue" and bemoaned the lack of consultation and the clumsy manner in which the changes were introduced.
