
EUROPE - Private equity to take the stand
The Commons Treasury Select Committee in the UK has summoned five of Europe ’s biggest private equity chiefs to attend a meeting on 20 June, which as been called a sort of ‘public hearing’ in a report in today’s Financial Times. The industry chiefs invited are Damon Buffini of Permira ; Philip Yea of 3i; David Blitzer of Blackstone Group; Dominic Murphy of KKR and Robert Easton of Carlyle Group. The FT report predicts that some of the Committee’s 14 members are likely to ask pressing questions about the accountability and role of the asset in today’s market.
