FRANCE - Activa sells BFI in EUR 20m deal
Activa Capital has sold BFI Optilas, an electronic equipment company, to UK-listed Acal in a deal that values the company at EUR 20m.
Following the acquisition, Acal will combine BFI Optilas with its electronics division, one of its three principal activities, with BFI's CEO taking the helm of the merged entity.
BFI Optilas is a distributor of electronic and photonic components, modules and systems throughout Europe. Additionally, the company supplies value added calibration and maintenance services. The company, which was founded in 1998 by the merger of BFI Ibexa and Optilas Group, generated revenue of EUR 105m in 2009.
Activa Capital originally backed the management buyout of BFI Optilas in 2006. The private equity house took a majority stake, with the management and vendor Avnet retaining a minority stake.
