GERMANY - Triton's Kampa to file for insolvency
Triton-backed Kampa AG, a listed manufacturer of prefabricated houses, is expected to file for insolvency.
Kampa was founded in 1899 and is based in Minden, Westfalia. One of the biggest manufacturers of prefabricated homes in Germany, it currently employs around 800 people. In 1986 the company was listed on the German Stock Exchange.
In 2006, Triton acquired a 55.33% stake for EUR 32m in listed Kampa AG from main shareholder Wilfried Kampa, valuing the business at EUR 70m. In 2005, prior to Triton's acquisition, the company had reported revenues of EUR 193.6m with an EBIT margin of EUR 2.4. Earlier this year, Kampa's board estimated losses of EUR 30m for 2008. According to reports, the company was planning on raising capital through a rights issue before the insolvency.
