UK - YFM and MTI awarded mandate for interim North West venture fund
Venture investors YFM and MTI have been awarded a mandate to manage the ТЃ9m interim Venture Capital Fund for the North West region, an initiative launched by the Northwest Regional Development Agency to invest in small-to medium sized businesses in the area.
The interim pot of capital is earmarked to last until Spring of this year until long term funds are secured. Interviews with fund managers for the established vehicle will take place early this year, with four to five GPs due to be appointed by late Spring.
The fund will look to invest between £250,000 to £1m of equity in SMEs based in the North West that are at any stage of development.
YFM Private Equity has made 15 investments across the North West, totalling more than £28m last year. Technology-focused investor MTI, through its £32m UMIP Premier Fund, has made over 14 investments in the region over the last 15 months.
