GERMANY - Silverfleet in talks to acquire Kalle Nalo
It is understood that mid-market investor Silverfleet Capital is in exclusive negotiations with Montagu Private Equity to acquire charcuterie casing business Kalle Nalo, with the price tag thought to be around EUR 250m.
In September 2004, Montagu Private Equity purchased Kalle Nalo in a secondary buyout from CVC Capital Partners for an undisclosed sum. Senior and mezz financing for the deal was provided by Mizuho Corporate Bank.
CVC had acquired Kalle from Hoechst in 1997.
Headquartered in in Wiesbaden, Kalle produces viscose-, polymer- and textile-based artificial sausage casings, making it an important partner for the meat processing industry and the butcher trade. The company also has converting facilities are in the UK, Chile, Denmark, The Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Russia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Turkey and the USA.
