SWEDEN - Axcel takes 90% stake in John Bauer Organization
Axcel has acquired a 90% stake in Swedish education company John Bauer Organization AB (JBO) from founder Rune Tedfors. Tedfors will retain a minority stake.
The Swedish government started subsidising privately owned schools in 1994, and today 800 independent schools make up 20% of the Swedish school market. The JBO schools specialize in vocational education and training such as IT, media, entrepreneurship, health and physical, hotel and restaurant. The investor has appointed former Proffice director, Alf Johansson as chairman of the board, and will in the long-run aim for international expansion of the operations .
