SPAIN - Mercapital acquires Cinebox
The cinema chain Abaco, backed by the private equity firm Mercapital, has agreed to buy Cinebox from the entertainement group GMR in a deal reportedly worth around EUR 60m.
With the acquisition of the company's 294 screens, Abaco will consolidate its sector leadership, with a forecast turnover of EUR 100m. It was acquired by Mercapital last year for EUR 55m and took less than a year and a half to become the largest cinema chain in Spain.
