SPAIN - Vector and Suma acquire GEC
Private equity firms Vector Capital and Suma Capital (backed by Privat Bank) have acquired education consultancy GEC from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and La Caixa.
It is understood that Vector Capital and Suma Capital will each hold between 48-49% stake in the company, with the remainder being held by the management.
Based in Barcelona and established in 1996, GEC offers online university courses and programmes to over 200,000 users. The company has offices in oficinas en Barcelona, Madrid, Paris and London, and closed 2008 with a EUR 10m turnover; up 10% form the previous year.
