Banca IMI and DeA Capital launch SPAC
Banca IMI and DeA Capital have launched a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) that intends to raise €200m, with a hard-cap set at €250m.
The SPAC will invest in non-listed medium-sized Italian companies.
Ideami will be listed on the AIM segment of the Italian stock exchange next month. Banca IMI and DeA will commit funds of more than 15% of the target.
SPACs are gaining traction in Italy, as was recently reported by unquote". The assets are essentially shell companies, which raise money through an IPO with acquisitions made in the following one- or two-year period.
Banca IMI is the investment banking arm of the Italian bank Grupo Intesa Sanpaolo and DeA Capital is an independent alternative asset manager run by Grupppo De Agostini.
