
Quantum Capital Partners exits Barcelona Cartonboard
Germany private equity firm Quantum Capital Partners has agreed to sell Spanish board producer Barcelona Cartonboard in its entirety to listed Italian group Reno de Medici.
The sale ended a three-year holding period for Quantum, which acquired the group from Stora Enso in 2015.
Under Quantum's ownership, sales have grown to €122m in 2017 from €114m in 2014.
The preliminary price of the transaction, is based on an enterprise value of €46.8m – calculated on a pro-forma 2018 EBITDA of €8.2m, according to a release from the Italian stock exchange.

Barcelona Cartonboard produces recycled and virgin-fibre board at its plant in Castellbisbal in Catalonia, Spain. The production of cartonboard starts with the recycling of Barcelona's waste paper. After the company prepares the waste so that the materials and substances can be reused, solid recycling cardboard is then produced out of the paper fibres recovered, which is used in various industries.
