Schroders sets up PE fund for private investors
Schroders has launched a specialist private equity fund-of-funds targeting a larger pool of clients via monthly subscriptions and quarterly redemptions.
Interested investors can gain exposure to the Schroder GAIA II Specialist Private Equity Fund with a minimum investment of $50,000.
GAIA II is Schroders' liquid alternatives platform and sits alongside the GAIA platform, which provides investors with access to a diverse hedge fund offering.
Schroder Adveq, the organisation's specialist private equity team, is responsible for managing the fund. Rainer Ender serves as the head of the team.
Investors
The targeted clients for this fund include family offices, multi-manager funds, institutions, and professional and qualified investors.
The client geographies include Germany, Greece, France, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
The fund will also be available to investors in Singapore and Australia over the course of Q4/Q1 2020.
Investments
The fund's strategy focuses on venture/growth (25%), larger buyouts (10-15%), mid-cap buyout (30%), and small buyout (30%), according to a person familiar with the organisation.
The fund will invest up to 20% in primaries, and the rest in secondaries (30-50%) and co-investment (30-50%)
The fund targets investments mainly in Europe (30-50%) and the US (30-50%). It will also allocate to Asia (10-30%), gaining exposure to companies that are positioned to benefit from domestic demand growth and the burgeoning middle class in China and India.
The targeted sectors include healthcare, industrials, consumer, technology and business services.
