
OpenGate closes Capital Partners II fund on $585m
US-based GP OpenGate Capital has closed OpenGate Capital Partners II on $585m, surpassing its $450m target.
The second-generation fund was registered in September 2018, according to Unquote Data.
The fund's predecessor, OpenGate Capital Partners I, closed on $305m in 2016.
UBS Securities acted as placement agent, and Kirkland & Ellis acted as legal adviser to OpenGate.
Investors
OpenGate's second institutional fund comprises 23 investors, including pensions, asset managers, consultants, funds-of-funds, wealth managers and insurance companies based in the US, Europe and the Middle East.
Investments
The new fund will continue OpenGate's strategy of investing in lower-mid-market businesses throughout North America and Europe operating in the industrials, technology, consumer and business services sectors.
The vehicle has completed six platform investments this year, including France-based SMAC.
