
PlantLab raises $20m from De Hoge Dennen Capital – report
Dutch growth capital investment firm De Hoge Dennen Capital has reportedly invested €20m in the vertical farming company PlantLab in its first investment round.
An article in Dutch daily Het Financieele Dagblad cited PlantLab chairman Michiel Peters for the information.
PlantLab will use the proceeds to open production locations in the Netherlands, the US and the Bahamas. The company, which currently has a commercial production unit in Amsterdam, wants to grow vegetables on a large scale without using chemical pesticides.
De Hoge Dennen is the investment company of the De Rijcke family, the former owner of the drugstore chain Kruidvat.

Founded in 2010, PlantLab has developed a method to grow plants indoors. It develops and operates indoor farms and is focused on growing produce without the use of pesticides, herbicides or fungicides. It has a production unit in Amsterdam and currently employs 60 people.
