EQT leads $7m series-B for 3D Hubs
EQT Ventures has led a $7m series-B funding round for 3D Hubs, an online marketplace for 3D printing services.
Existing backer Balderton Capital also took part in the round alongside various angel investors.
Upon completion of the deal, EQT Ventures' design partner Ted Persson will take a seat on the 3D Hubs board. 3D Hubs will spend the fresh capital in part on expanding its development team.
Previous funding
Balderton first invested in 3D Hubs in August 2013, providing an undisclosed sum of seed capital. The VC then led a $4.5m series-A for the company in September 2014 to enable it to invest in the expansion of its team.
Company
Launched in 2013 and headquartered in Amsterdam, 3D Hubs is a network connecting owners of 3D printers with people who want to use the devices. It has commercial partnerships with 3D design software company Autodesk and smartphone brand Fairphone.
3D Hubs claims to give more than 1 billion people access to a 3D printer within 10 miles of their home, adding that 30,000 prints have been produced using the network to date. The company has a network of 7,000 printer owners across 140 countries.
