EQT invests in TransIP
EQT Partners, via its EQT Mid Market Europe fund, has acquired a stake in Dutch internet services provider TransIP.
The transaction marks the first investment made by the EQT Mid Market Europe fund in the Benelux region. The fund reached a €1.1bn first close in July 2016. It targets deals in the €80-150m range in Europe.
In this deal, EQT is acquiring a stake from company founder Ali Niknam, who will join the company's supervisory board alongside future chair Jonas Persson, a former CTO for EMEA at Microsoft. The existing management will remain in place.
With EQT's support, the group will continue its expansion across existing products and markets, still focusing on the Benelux region.
TransIP is hoping for a 20% annual sales growth, with a €25m turnover expected for 2016.
Company
Founded in 2003, TransIP provides domain names, web hosting and virtual private servers to 150,000 entrepreneurs and businesses. The company is headquartered in Leiden, the Netherlands, and employs 70 people.
