Bregal Freshstream acquires minority stake in Euro-Caps
Bregal Freshstream has acquired a minority stake in Netherlands-based Euro-Caps, a manufacturer of ground coffee capsules.
Following the deal, Euro-Caps' management team will retain a significant stake in the business and will continue to lead the company.
According to a statement issued by the investor, Euro-Caps will look to capitalise on the growing demand for premium coffee products. It is understood the business will look to increase its retailing and contract manufacturing networks.
Freshstream primarily makes private equity investments in the UK and Benelux regions on behalf of the Brenninkmeijer-family-backed Bregal Investments.
The transaction is the sixth made by the fund manager since its launch in 2015. In 2016, the firm made two investments in the Netherlands, comprising the acquisition of a majority stake in industrial and petrochemical contractor Verwater and an investment in regional aircraft leasing business TrueNoord.
A spokesperson for Freshstream declined to provide further details surrounding the deal valuation or equity stake.
Company
Headquartered in Rotterdam and founded in 2012, Euro-Caps is a private label manufacturer of Nespresso-compatible coffee capsules. The business distributes its products to food retailers and has partnerships with third-party coffee roasters and brands.
