Gimv invests €15m in Arseus Medical
Gimv has announced a €15m minority investment in Belgian medical supplies distributor Arseus Medical.
Existing owners Cedric De Quinnemar and Jan Ponnet, who took over the company in 2014, will remain invested and stay on the board. All parties have committed to providing extra growth capital in the coming years.
The GP will draw capital for the transaction from its €150m Health & Care Fund, closed in March 2014.
Arseus targets both organic and acquisitive growth in the coming years. It aims to lead consolidation of the fragmented Benelux market, starting with the Netherlands.
This is the fourth investment Gimv has made in the healthcare sector in 2017, after participating in rounds for Breath Therapeutics and ImCheck Therapeutics, and buying a minority stake in MVZ Holding.
Company
Founded in 2007 and based in Bornem, Arseus provides specialist medical equipment and supplies to hospitals, medical specialists and care homes. This includes ophthalmology, cardiology and gynaecology equipment as well as mobility products, diagnostics and consumables for general practitioners. In 2016, the company generated a turnover of €30m and employs 90 people.
