Tiger Global leads €10m series-A for Cowboy
Tiger Global Management, alongside existing investors Index Ventures and Hardware Club, has led a €10m series-A funding round for Belgian electric bike startup Cowboy.
Several private investors also took part in the round, including Uber co-founder Oscar Salazar, LaFourchette co-founder and CEO Bertrand Jelensperger, and BlaBlaCar co-founder and CTO Francis Nappez.
The company will use the fresh capital to scale its operations and boost its expansion into new European markets, including Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and France. In addition, the capital injection will help the startup improve and further develop its product offering by prolonging battery life and adding new features, such as crash and theft detection.
Previous funding
Index Ventures led a €2.4m seed funding round for Cowboy in April 2018. Kima Ventures, Hardware Club and several unknown angel investors also took part in the funding.
Company
Founded in January 2017 and based in Brussels, Cowboy designs and sells lightweight electric bicycles for urban riders. The bikes offered by the company are equipped with a live dashboard, navigation, GPS tracking and an intelligent motor-assistance system with built-in sensors able to measure speed and torque.
