EQT Ventures co-leads €20m round for Dott
EQT Ventures has co-led a €20m funding round for Amsterdam-based electric scooter company Dott, alongside the corporate venturing arm of listed technology business Naspers.
Other investors include Axel Springer Digital Ventures, DN Capital, Felix Capital, FJ Labs, U-Start Club and unnamed angel investors. EQT drew the investment from the EQT Ventures Fund, a €566m fund that held a final close in May 2016.
The fresh capital will be used to launch electric bikes and scooters in European cities, starting with Paris in early 2019.
Dott has committed to 10 social responsibility pledges including working closely with city authorities and not relying on the gig economy but on dedicated, trained workers who will recharge, clean and maintain its vehicles on a daily basis.
Company
Dott is an electric scooter and electric bike manufacturer and rental operator that was founded in 2018. It aims to collaborate with city authorities to roll out its vehicles in European cities in 2019. The scooters are designed by Dott with wider wheels and decks than most of its competitors for a better center of gravity. It also has a double brake system (e-ABS and drum brake) and a speed cap at 20km/h.
