Aurelius-backed Office Depot sells Nordic operations to management
Office Depot Europe, a portfolio company of Aurelius, has sold its Nordic operations to the company's CEO, Klaus Egholm, in a management buyout backed by a family office.
Following the sale, the business will focus on its core European e-commerce activities, according to a statement from Aurelius.
Aurelius wholly owns Netherlands-based Office Depot Europe, which it acquired from its US-based parent company in September 2016. At the time, the company had 6,500 employees and reported 2015 EBITDA of approximately €45m on revenues of €2bn.
The company has undergone a restructuring under Aurelius's ownership. The GP sold the company's eastern European operations to Austria-based PBS in November 2019, as reported.
The GP noted in a coronavirus update statement in April 2020 that Office Depot Europe had seen some big corporate accounts reducing their orders, since their employees were now working from home.
