Main Capital-backed Inergy buys Frontin
Business intelligence and data analytics business Inergy, a portfolio company of Main Capital, has acquired Netherlands-based Frontin, a software platform for Dutch municipalities.
Frontin will operate under the name Inergy, while retaining its product names PAUW, BUIG and Frontinfo, according to a statement.
Managing director and Frontin shareholder Dirk Jans will remain in his role, according to a statement.
Inergy currently provides planning and control software for use by local authorities and provinces, as well as regional water bodies and education organisations. The addition of Frontin's technology will expand its offering for public sector and government clients, according to a statement.
Main Capital bought a majority stake in Inergy in June 2017, investing around €10m in equity, according to press reports. The GP deployed equity via Main Capital IV, which held a final close in 2015 on €85m. The company generated revenues of around €10m at the time, with strong margins and recent growth of 20% per year.
Main Capital announced at the time that it planned to make further capital available to the company for add-on acquisitions. Frontin is the second add-on for Inergy: the company acquired management software Lias in April 2018, which focuses on areas including government, welfare and utilities.
Company
Founded in 2001 and based in Dordrecht, Frontin provides software that allows Dutch municipalities to determine and manage contributions from the €31bn Dutch Municipality Fund, managed by the national government.
The software, known as Pauw, is used by 95% of municipalities in the Netherlands, according to Frontin's website. Frontin's Buig product allows municipalities to structure their bundled benefit from the national government that is intended for the payment of social benefits, while Frontinfo is a knowledge platform for government financing.
