Waterland invests €100m in Sarens
Waterland Private Equity has agreed to invest €100m in Dutch crane hire company Sarens Group.
The investment will be made available to the company over a period of three years. Capital will allow the company to continue to expand internationally through the opening of new branches, expansion of its crane fleet and select add-on acquisitions. The Sarens family will remain as majority owners of the business.
Equity for the transaction was provided by Waterland's fourth fund.
Company
Sarens Group was founded in 1960 and hires out cranes and transports to lift and realign heavy loads. Headquartered in Wolvertem, the Netherlands, the company is active in more than 40 countries and the majority of its customers are in the oil & gas production, energy, petrochemicals and mining sectors.
The company's turnover has grown from €122m in 2004 to €385m in 2010. Sarens employs more than 2,700 staff.
