
HCPE invests $25m in WeTransfer
Highland Capital Partners Europe (HCPE) has injected $25m into WeTransfer, a Dutch file transfer service provider, for the company’s series-A round.
The company had been bootstrapped up until the substantial capital injection by HCPE.
The company did not actively look for funding, but was approached by several large investors, including HCPE, WeTransfer CEO Bas Beerens said in a statement.
The significant fundraise will be used by WeTransfer to bolster its position in the US market.

Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Amsterdam, WeTransfer has developed an online file transfer service.
It claims to have a user base of more than 70 million. The company has been profitable since 2013 and doubled its revenues in the last year.
People
Bas Beerens is the founder and CEO of WeTransfer. HCPE partners Tony Zappalà and Irena Goldenberg are joining the company's board of directors.
