BeCapital backs Verdesis
BeCapital has backed EDF Energies Nouvelles biogas subsidiary Verdesis.
It has invested €11m and subscribed to a further capital injection of €14m in 2013, bringing the total investment to €25m. Equity was invested from BeCapital's SCA SICAR fund, which closed at €150m in 2011.
EDF Energies Nouvelles has retained its 65.5% shareholding in Verdesis. BeCapital has partnered with founder Xavier Lombard, taking a minority stake.
Company
Verdesis, founded in 2006, produces and operates anaerobic digestion and biogas power plants for use with agricultural and industrial waste products. The company is headquartered in Paris and operates in France, the UK, Belgium, and Spain. It employs around 50 staff and has a turnover of around €5m.

Alexander Schmidt, CEO, worked on the deal for BeCapital. Xavier Lombard is the founder of Verdesis and minority shareholder alongside BeCapital.
