Accel leads $10m series-A for Job Today
Accel Partners has led a $10m series-A for Luxembourg-headquartered employment marketplace Job Today, alongside Felix Capital and existing backer Mangrove Capital Partners.
The round will be used to finance Job Today's commercial launch in London and Paris. Although headquartered in Luxembourg, the company since inception had operated solely in the Spanish market via offices in Madrid and Barcelona.
The deal is Accel's second to be announced in the space of two weeks, after recently leading a £12.5m series-B for British car-purchasing service Carwow alongside previous backers Balderton Capital, Episode 1 Ventures and Samos Investments.
In return for its investment in Job Today, Accel general partner Sonali de Rycker will join the company's board. During the series-A, the firm was joined by fellow VC Felix Capital. Launched in early 2015, Felix closed its maiden fund on its $120m hard-cap last June and has since focused on $2-5m early-stage investments.
In addition, the round featured capital from Mangrove Capital Partners, a Luxembourg-headquartered VC that had already backed Job Today in June 2015.
Company
Founded in 2015, Job Today runs a website and an app that connects job seekers with employers. After creating a profile, both sides may interact via a built-in chat function and discuss a potential employment opportunity.
Although it is headquartered in Luxembourg, the business started by operating in Spain, where it claims more than 10,000 job-seekers have successfully used its services to land a job over the past eight months. The company currently employs 50 staff.
