
BC Partners buys Dümmen Orange
BC Partners has acquired Dutch flower business Dümmen Orange in a secondary buyout from H2 Equity Partners.
The company was valued at approximately €500m as part of the deal, unquote" understands – equivalent to 11x EBITDA. Debt was provided by UBS and RBC.
BC plans to grow the company with investments in sales, marketing and advances in breeding technologies, as well as through acquisitions.
According to media reports, BC Partners is currently seeking €7bn for its latest fund. The GP closed its current vehicle, its ninth European Capital fund, on its €6.5bn hard-cap in early 2012. A first close had been held on €4bn in March 2011, followed by a second close at €5.5bn in July.
Previous funding
H2 Equity acquired a majority stake in Agribio Holding in March 2010. Dümmen Orange was formed in 2013 through the merger between Dümmen and Agribio. Originally named DNA Green Group, the company rebranded to Dümmen Orange in April 2015.

Dümmen Orange has a portfolio of 3,500 varieties of cut flowers, pot and bedding plants. It creates, develops and produces cuttings that are then supplied to growers globally. Dümmen Orange operates production farms in East Africa and Central America, and serves customers in western Europe, North America and Asia.
