Qbic, Volta invest $2m in Sentiance
Qbic Venture Partners and Volta Ventures have taken part in a $2m funding round for Sentiance, a Belgian developer of contextual smartphone data formerly known as Argus Labs.
Angel investors Michel Akkermans, the former chairman and CEO of Clear2Pay, and IgnitionOne CEO Will Margiloff also took part in the round.
Sentiance will use the fresh capital as it moves out of concept development and begins to roll out its product to clients.
The company recently made changes to its management team, appointing Toon Vanparys as CEO and Frank Verbist as CTO. Both joined in October last year, having already invested seed capital into the business.
The company announced its rebrand from Argus Labs to Sentiance in conjunction with the capital injection.
Company
Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Antwerp, Sentiance has developed a platform that tracks contextual sensor data from smartphones, which the company claims allows for personalised services.
According to Sentiance, insurance firms, media companies and advertisers can benefit from the technology, as it tracks behaviour on smartphones and facilitates the offering of relevant recommendations in real time.
People
Toon Vanparys is the CEO of Sentiance. Guy Huylebroeck is an investment partner at Qbic, while Frank Maene is a managing partner at Volta.
