Mid Europa opens Bucharest office
Mid Europa has opened an office in Bucharest to deepen its local presence, following its increased investment activity in Romania.
The office will be led by Berke Biricik, a principal who joined Mid Europa in 2013. The firm has also promoted Alain Beyens, its operating partner, to equity partner. He served as Mid Europa's operating partner since July 2017 and has successfully led operating projects at several portfolio companies.
The announcement comes four years after Mid Europa's first investment in Romania, the buyout of private multi-speciality healthcare clinics Centrul Medical Unirea via Mid Europa IV.
Mid Europa now has offices in Budapest, Istanbul, London and Warsaw. It has also established a fund administration company in Guernsey. The firm is 100% owned by its partners.
Mid Europa has applied a pan-regional approach since inception and acquires mid-market companies principally in domestic-focused growth industries in central and eastern Europe.
