Enterprise Investors backs United Oilfield Services
Polish private equity firm Enterprise Investors (EI) has taken a minority stake in Polish oil services company United Oilfield Services for $28m.
The firm invested through its Polish Enterprise Fund VI vehicle alongside existing investor CSL Capital Management, whose founding partner, Charles Leykum, is co-founder of UOS. EI will also take a seat on the company's board.
UOS plans to be able to offer drilling and completion services on top of its seismic services by the end of 2012.
Company
United Oilfield Services is a new oil services company headquartered in Warsaw. It signed its first contract for geophysical services in March 2012.
The business plans to grow by tapping into Poland's shale gas reserves, which are believed to be substantial, but are banned from being harvested in countries including France and Bulgaria.
