3TS Capital leads $5m round for Vector Watch
Vienna-based GP 3TS Capital has led a $5m funding round for Romanian watch developer Vector Watch, alongside Bucharest-based IT and software investor Gecad Group and three private investors.
The round saw $1.5m contributed by 3TS, $2m from Gecad Group, and the balance raised from investors Radu Apostolescu, Bogdan Vlad and Mihai Popescu.
3TS's investment was made through the Catalyst Romania vehicle, a fund financed by European Investment Fund and focused on investing in the Romanian SME market. Its remit spans venture investments to private equity deals.
With the capital in hand, Vector will finance further development of its watches and grow its offices in the Bay Area in the US.
Gecad was an existing investor in Vector – having led a €1.5m seed round in July 2014 – and will retain the largest stake in the company following the round.
Company
Founded in Bucharest but headquartered in London, Vector is a designer and developer of smart watches, claimed by the company to have a 30-day battery life.
People
