Investcorp acquires Namet stake
Bahrain-based Investcorp has acquired a minority stake in Turkish meat company Namet Gida Saayi ve Ticareti.
Investcorp purchased its holding from the Kayar family, which acquired the company in 2005; the Kayars will retain a majority interest in Namet.
Investcorp will support the company's domestic growth plans and explore potential opportunities to expand overseas.
Company
Namet produces freshly cut and packaged-processed red meat products including soujouk, pastrami, salami, sausages and smoked meats, as well as frozen and ready-to-eat burgers. All products are certified Halal. The company sells to retailers, hotels, restaurants and catering companies.
The company was established in 1929 and is headquartered in Çayırova, Turkey.
People
Mohammed Al Shroogi is Investcorp's president of Gulf business and Tristan de Boysson is managing director for the firm's corporate investments in MENA. Tarik Kayar is chairman and CEO of Namet.
