Republika Kobiet (Poland) - Nov 2007

bmp Media Investors and Mangrove Capital Partners have each taken a 17.5% stake in Republika Kobiet, which aims to build a web 2.0 lifestyle portal targeted at women. The total investment was less than €2m. The deal represents the first investment in Poland for Luxembourg-based Mangrove Capital Partners.

Company

The founders of the company envisage creating an internet portal which will be an interactive and community-building equivalent of women’s magazines. As a step in launching the portal, Republika Kobiet has launched a web page of a women-dedicated programme Mala Czarna, broadcast daily by TV4. On this web page, internet users can share their opinions on the issues touched on in the programme.

People

The company’s founders are Jan Dybczynski, Hachette Filipacchi Polska and Piotr Wasowski. Krysztof Nowinski led the deal on behalf of bmp Polska. Hugo Makieu is principal at Mangrove Capital Partners.
