
Virgin and Rusnano launch emerging markets fund
Virgin Group, Virgin Green Fund and Russian nanotechnology investor Rusnano Capital have launched an emerging markets fund with commitments exceeding $200m.
The vehicle, VGF Emerging Market Growth I, will complete growth and buyout transactions targeting mid-market companies in Russia, Turkey and CEE.
The fund has offices in London and Moscow and is managed by Virgin Green Fund.
Investors
Rusnano Capital, the Virgin Group and Virgin Green Fund are the investors in the fund.
Investments
The vehicle will target the resource efficiency, consumer sustainability and renewable energy sectors in Russia, Turkey and CEE.
The fund has a five-year investment period.
People
Shai Weiss and Evan Lovell, both co-founders of the Virgin Green Fund, will work on the vehicle's investment team. Brooks Preston and Tamas Szalai, previously of Wolfensohn & Company and Bancroft Private Equity respectively, will lead the investment team. Andrew Reicher, former head of CEE private equity at Credit Suisse and CIO at Actis is non-executive chairman of the investment committee.
